2009 First Family Car, Chery A3 Hatchback Launched
2009-1-6—Chinese automaker Chery launched Chery A3 2-box hatchback officially in China. Mr. Yin Tongyue, President and General Manager of Chery and Mr. Ma Deji, General Manager of Chery Sales Company attended the launch ceremony held in Beijing. The newly launched Chery A3 hatchback comes with the 1.6L standard, 1.6L elite, 1.8L control and 1.8L luxury versions with seven options of color (Chery White, Wolf Grey, Magic Black, Nasdaq Silver, Passion Red, Aegean Blue and Indicolite Gold). Trendy designing style, handling and high safety standard are A3 hatchback’s selling points.
Chery A3 2-box hatchback’s debut in 2006 Beijing Motor Show as a concept car attracted great attention of insiders of the auto industry. Chery A3 2-box hatchback and 3-box saloon share the same frontage design for instant recognition, with the headlights embracing the grille for a sporty, elegant, and stylish look. On the contrary, some prominent variations were made in the treatment of the rear part to highlight the sporty features. Chery A3 hatchback aims to enter the sportier hatch segment and has been styled accordingly. Notably, A3 hatchback’s dynamic appearance is designed by Pininfarina, a world-renowned auto design company.
Since Chery A3 went on sale on September 26, 2008, it has won the awards of “Most Popular Newly Launched Car of 2008”, “Compact Car of the Year” and the five-star safety by C-NCAP successively. Excellent performance in C-NCAP five-star safety tests proved that A3 owns the same safety standard as premium cars. In addition, “5E4W”, the selling point of A3 3-box, is applied to the newly launched A3 hatchback. “5E4W” denotes that, as the first Chinese car passed C-NCAP five-star safety test, A3 hatchback with a wide body applies not only the 4-link independent rear suspension system which appears only on high class sedans but also the ESP system. A3 hatchback’s selling points make it superior to its competitors with a competitive price.
Mr. Ma Deji, General Manager of Chery Sales Company, said that the hatchback’s launch will further widen the target customer group of A3 lineup. Highly recognized by the market, A3 is the first car in China to have undergone a 100,000km continuous test publicly before launch, and its safety features have been greatly upgraded to the five-star safety according to C-NCAP standard. A3 lineup will be expanded further by newly launched hatchback version of sporty, fashionable and personalized, which appeals to a larger group of young customers.
